From 1500, Jacopo de'Barbari worked in Germany and the Netherlands.
Albrecht Durer was influenced by him, and he by Durer, no more telling than in his engravings.
De la eccelentia de la pictura, the strange letter he wrote to the Elector of Saxony, was written around 1501.
He painted the first still-life, the Dead Bird, in 1504.
