Did you know?
In the late 1940s Grace Kelly was with friends in her New York apartment. A guy had tagged along and asked Kelly if she would read for him a part and see if he was any good at acting. She did so and politely told the stranger that it might be best if he tried another career. That young unknown was Paul Newman.

He has always hated signing autographs and will only do so reluctantly. Sorry folks but to anyone who has written to his office requesting one then chances are what you will receive back and now have framed, taking pride of place on your wall and always a source of "WOW!" when friends see it, is either a pre-printed one (albeit a well-done pre-print) or signed by his secretary. How did we arrive at this deduction? Well, you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to realise that it is odd that Newman's signature and Kiefer Sutherland's signature are identical. Are they the same man or is it a bizarre, against all odds, coincidence. Sadly not. Then why do they look so alike?? Elementary my dear Watson: they both share the same secretary so both share the same signature.
Donald Sutherland gets it at weekends.
Did you know?
Paul Newman has always been sensitive about his height. Officially, he's 5ft 9. To you and me that would mean 5ft 8 or less but as Paul Newman is a God he can be any height he wants to be. Bit like the guy who asked the former world heavweight boxing champion, Lennox Lewis, for an autograph. Lennox obliges but says:
"Who do I sign it to?"
The autograph hunter replies:
"Anyone you want to, Lennox. I'm not in a position to argue."
Different laws apply to superstars and there is no bigger superstar in film today than Paul Newman.
Did you know?
Newman was so ashamed of his debut in the bomb The Silver Chalice (1954), that he took out an ad in Variety apologizing for his performance. Newman should have worried...not!! The British director of the film, Victor Saville, never directed a film again!
Did you know?
Paul Newman is one of the few Hollywood stars who has gotten better looking as he's got older, grown older gracefully and, yes, played parts to suit his age. Whereas Robert Redford, who still insists on playing the love interest is now shot in such soft focus that his face is just a blur!
