Career Highlights

Lysette Anthony is one of the UK's most exciting actresses. Despite challenges in Hollywood and personal life, she has had a prolific career with notable roles in Husbands and Wives, Hollyoaks, and numerous TV and film projects.

She is perhaps one of the unluckiest actresses currently around. While lesser actresses (Catherine Zeta Jones and Kate Winslet spring to mind) have found great stardom in Hollywood, Lysette's star has never quite reached their sphere. A variety of reasons have been the cause.

Her major US breakthrough should have been after her great role in Woody Allen's movie Husbands And Wives in 1992. However that was the time when Allen decided to have an affair with his adopted daughter and public interest centred on that. What might have been an Oscar nomination became "guilt by association" as Anthony puts it.

When she set out to reinvent herself in Hollywood she was already married to Luc Leestemaker and this was a major draw back. "I went as a married woman. You get different opportunities if you're single," Lysette says bitterly.

She has also been unlucky in her personal life. Her father, actor-producer, Michael Anthony, who was 53 when she was born, and her mother, Bernadette Milnes, his second wife, split up when she was young. Lysette went with her mother and didn't see her father for 5 years. He rarely kept in touch; something Lysette only forgave him for in the last years of his life (he died at the age of 89).

Her first marriage ended in a bitter divorce as did other marriages - the last one making headlines in the UK. She was also in the news recently for the case which has world attention.

Hopefully, the stardom that befits her talent will be gained soon. She continues to work at a frantic pace and remains one of the UK's most exciting actresses, not least in her latest role in Hollyoaks, for like all the great stars she has that magnetic presence which draws you to whatever she's in.

Mailing Address

This is the last mailing address I have for her (2010) so don't know if it's still functioning. I wouldn't chance on sending on anything of value to it. Also, I'm not that sure that Lysette is all that keen on signing stuff. The only things I've had returned from her have been pre-printed photos so bear that in mind. And do include an SAE.
