Paperback: 59 pages
Publisher: Marlborough; 1st Edition Date: 1980 Language: EnglishR. B. Kitaj (1932–2007) was a key figure in post-war British and American art, associated with the School of London and widely regarded as one of the most intellectually ambitious painters of his generation. His work combined figurative imagery with history, literature, politics, and personal symbolism, influencing artists such as David Hockney and Lucian Freud.
This catalogue was produced for the exhibition Pastels and Drawings, held at Marlborough Fine Art, London, from 8 October to 7 November 1980. Marlborough exhibitions of Kitaj’s work are particularly significant, as the gallery represented him during a crucial period of his career and issued high-quality, limited-run catalogues that are now increasingly scarce.
This copy is signed and dedicated to “Miranda” by R. B. Kitaj on the first inner page, making it a unique and personal example. Signed exhibition catalogues by Kitaj are uncommon, and dedicated copies are especially desirable to collectors of modern British and American art.
