Quattrocento (Ital. four hundred) The 15th century, i.e, the fourteen-hundreds. 'Quattrocento Mannerism' is a phrase sometimes used to describe the agitated style of a Botticelli or a Filippino Lippi, the assumption being that it is a 15th-century precursor of Mannerism.
