Richard Harris & The Colour Grey
The colour grey is important to "Red Desert" (1964), serving as a kind of base colour to the splashes of colour Michelangelo Antonioni gives us during the film - the deep paint on wood, the coats, th tress etc. etc. But almost surrounding everything is the grey - you can almost feel it on your dirty hands when you watch the movie.
Here, there is the grey of the pavement, the door and the brown/grey building wall. There is just a hint of dark blue shining through from the window. The weathered wall almost looks like an abstract canvas of a great artist. And leaning against it is one of the great Hollywood actors, Richard Harris.
Just gives a whiff of surrealness to the whole event.
