Rosamund Pike was born on 28 January 1979 in London, England, UK, the only child of professional opera singers. Growing up in a home steeped in music and the arts, she developed an early appreciation for performance, storytelling, and the subtle power of observation.
At 16, Pike was accepted into the National Youth Theatre, and by 18 she landed her first lead role in a stage production of Romeo and Juliet. The performance secured her an agent and launched her professional acting career.
