Peter Blake Postcard: Signed Sir Peter Blake's The Venuses' Outing to Weymouth is a fascinating artwork that brings together famous Venuses from art history onto the beach at Weymouth Bay. This setting is inspired by John Constable's painting of Weymouth Bay, which is part of the National Gallery's collection. Blake created this piece during his residency as an Associate Artist at the National Gallery in London, where he explored the gallery's collection and produced new works in response.
The painting was completed in 2004, after being started in 1994, and it showcases Blake's unique ability to blend classical art references with contemporary creativity. It has been exhibited in various prestigious galleries, including the National Gallery and Tate Liverpool.
