This means that he was, probaly, Masaccio's pupil. ------------ FRA FILIPPO LIPPI: FRAGMENTS FROM A LIFE (Cont.): He left the Carmine in 1434 and was in Padua. His first dated work was the Tarquinia Madonna (1437, Rome Gall. Naz). In the same year he began the Barbadori Altarpiece (Paris, Louvre). He began the Prato cycle in 1452; they were still incomplete twelve years later. Two years previous to this, he was put on trial for fraud, and, in this period, abducted the nun Lucrezia (who gave birth to Filippino. The influential Medici family obtained him a dispensation to marry Lucrezia. His last works were the frescoes in Spoleto Cathedral. In the three years previous to his death he was in bad health and most of the work for these frescoes was done by pupils and assistants. The final receipts are signed by his son Filippino, who was around twelve. Trivia: Botticelli was probaly his pupil in the 1460s.
