'A film like Genevieve to my contemporaries is not a film made years ago, but last week or last year. They see me as I was then, not as I am now.'
~ Kenneth More
Personable, good-looking British leading man and supporting player equally comfortable in comedic and dramatic roles. Bitten by the acting bug in the mid 1930s (after working as a fur trapper and engineer's assistant), More logged screen time in several films, beginning with 1935's Look Up and Laugh before interrupting his career to serve with His Majesty's Navy during World War 2...more

After years of playing in support, More landed costarring parts in two smash hits: the carrace comedy Genevieve (1953) and the hilarious Doctor in the House (1954). Their successes made him an "overnight" film star at age 40.
He quickly became one of England's most popular leading men, following his comedy successes with solid dramatic performances in films like The Deep Blue Sea (1955), A Night to Remember (1958), and Sink the Bismarck! (1960). He took more lighthearted leads in The Admirable Crichton (1957), The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw (1959), and a remake of Hitchcock's The 39 Steps (1959).
By the mid 1960s, his starring career was waning in films, and he spent more time on stage and television, returning to movies mainly in allstar ensembles such as Oh! What a Lovely War (as Kaiser Wilhelm!) and Battle of Britain (both 1969). He appeared as The Ghost of Christmas Present in the 1970 musical Scrooge and made a charming chamberlain in the Cinderella musical The Slipper and the Rose (1976). He gave one of his most endearing performances in the landmark BBC series "The Forsyte Saga." More's autobiography, "More or Less," was published in 1978

Kenneth More's popularity in British cinema as a leading man really hit it's height in the 1950s. So your're talking about Genevieve to Sink the Bismarck!, released at the tail end of the decade. It's posters from this decade that are really Kenneth More collectables
- PAUL PAGE, 2019
I started collecting Kenneth More reproduction film posters as they were a lot less expensive than the original promo posters - made at the time of the film. Sure the originals are magical - invariably the ones I've seen have had damage as they were usually stored badly but that adds to their charm - but when you are talking 100s of pounds for one poster - well it was out of my price range. Try finding any of the original Genevieve posters cheaply.
Repro posters sanctioned by the relevant film studio are usually the best quality. You just have to do your own research.
